Students of schools across various states of India were regaled with Dance and Theatre workshops by
experts of Routes 2 Roots. From Idukki, Kochi, Ernakulam, Dronacharya, Keltron Nagar, Kanhangad,
Ezhimala and Ramavarmapuram in Kerala, to Bilaspur, Korba, Chirimiri, Ambikapur, Jashpur, Baikunthpur
and Saraipalli in Chhattisgarh, students were taught about Bharatnatyam, its history and origin. The
students were also taught the fundamentals of the dance form and got the opportunity to dance along with the
teachers under their guidance.
Similarly, Theatre workshops spread awareness about the art form for students in schools
across Ropar and SBS Nagar in Mohali. A special form of Theatre called Street Theatre or locally known
as ‘Nukkad Natak’ in India was performed by the expert for the students. He also showed them techniques
and the basic fundamentals of performing Street Theatre and encouraged them to perform with him. The
workshops turned out to be an extremely memorable experience for the students of Punjab.
