Among its many educational initiatives including digital classes on art and culture, workshops and
camps, Routes 2 Roots also runs workshops of art forms at PM Shri schools. Exponents of the different
art forms conduct extensive workshops in various disciplines to educate the students over weeks and
sometimes, months. In addition to workshops for intensive training, there are also activities such as
“Bag-less Days” that are organised, which encourage students to focus on fun extra-curriculars such as
crafts.
This month workshops were organised by Routes 2 Roots in various PM Shri schools across the country from
the Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas of Karnataka, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha.
Kathak, Tabla, Guitar and Yoga workshops commenced for students in these schools and are expected to
continue for 7-8 months to ensure extensive training. In addition, 10 Bag-less Days were organised for
activities such as painting, handicraft-making and gardening, where experts of these fields taught
students through creative and engaging activities. The students were also given self-defence training
for a month. All of these special training sessions and workshops are part of the NGO’s endeavour to
provide students educational experiences beyond conventional education.
