Bringing about cultural awareness, exchange and tolerance in India is what Routes 2 Roots strives most for and to that
end has successfully revolutionised education by integrating culture into it. Among its many unique initiatives to
educate students of India on heritage and art forms is the curation of Annual Day functions and other momentous
occasions in which the school-going youth participate. In addition to curating the functions, the students are trained
by the NGO's teachers and gurus in various art forms and prepared to perform for their audience on the day of
celebration.
One such initiative in October has been with the girls of Punjab's Government Meritorious School, Mohali where our
Bharatnatyam guru Varun Khanna introduced the students to a fusion piece featuring Bharatnatyam and Kathak. The
girls are being prepared for a special performance to be held in November where they will for the first time, present a
dance ensemble curated and taught by a professional dance exponent sent in by Routes 2 Roots. The experience is proving
to be enriching and fun for them as they learn a new way of imagining and performing classical dance. Here is a
sneak-peak into some of the behind-the-scenes rehearsal moments!
