As part of Max India Foundation’s ongoing support to Routes 2 Roots and its work of disseminating classes and workshops of performing arts, this month workshops were conducted in the new schools adopted under the program. Actors from leading Theatre repertory companies of Delhi on the panel of the NGO were sent to conduct workshops of Nukkad Natak or Street Theatre for children in the underprivileged schools of Ropar district in Punjab. The topics covered under these workshops where the actors performed for them and taught them the art of Street Theatre included – ‘Swachh Bharat, Environment Awareness and Climate Change’, ‘Say No to Drugs’, ‘The Negatives of Excessive Screen Time on Phones and Gadgets’ as well as ‘Mental Health’. The workshops generated a lot of awareness as well as fun among the students who enjoyed learning and interacting with the actors. They were conducted in schools of Punjab, which were added this year by the NGO under the CSR support of Max India Foundation and Toppan.
