June 21, the summer solstice of the Northern Hemisphere, was chosen as International Yoga Day due to its meaning of light, energy, and equilibrium. A day when day and night intersect, symbolising the goal of yoga, which is to bring harmony between mind, body, and spirit. Celebrated for the first time in 2015, following a United Nations resolution initiated by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this date holds both astronomical and cultural significance, marking a notable occasion.

World Music Day, also known as Fête de la Musique, was invented by Jack Lang, the French Minister of Culture, along with Maurice Fleuret, a composer and music journalist. It was first celebrated in Paris on June 21, 1982, coinciding with the summer solstice. The event was envisioned as a way to bring musicians out of their homes and onto the streets to share their music with the public.

At Routes 2 Roots, we firmly believe that yoga and music are not just practices—they are bridges. They connect cultures, dissolve boundaries, and speak a language every heart understands. Yoga brings inner peace and clarity, while music evokes emotion, memory, and unity.

As the world collectively stretched, breathed, sang, and played, it became clear that wellness and art are powerful tools for global harmony. This day reminded us that despite our diverse languages, traditions, and geographies, we all move to the same rhythms of peace, mindfulness, and joy.
