The year-long courses of Kathak, Odissi and Bharatanatyam featuring weekly classes of the dance forms held by Routes 2 Roots in collaboration with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) concluded in January with the annual exams of the three courses. Based on the curriculum for the Beginner’s course of one year, the exams were taken by students from different countries who performed live in online sessions for the NGO’s gurus who assessed them real-time. Students were assessed individually by their gurus to determine the progress of their comprehension of the art forms and their level of readiness to graduate to the intermediate course in the coming year. The top ten performances were further assessed by senior advisors of Routes 2 Roots as well as experts of the dance forms. While Odissi performances were evaluated by the NGO’s advisor, Padmashri Kiran Segal, Kathak students were assessed by Padmashri Malini and Nalini Asthana and Bharatanatyam entries by Sangeet Natak Academy awardee Rama Vaidyanathan. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our advisors and our gurus for dedicating their time for the promotion of Indian art forms.
